Monday Pun-Day || 002

Welcome to a  feature which is not depressingly pessimistic or containing anything deep or philosophical. A series of posts designed to brighten your Monday as opposed to make anything heavy or thought provoking of it- because for me choosing what to have on my sandwich is enough thought provocation for a Monday...
legless lego legolas (a funny site commented "don't give him a waffle"... get it? hahaha)

As soon as a saw this I loved it! After having seen Catching Fire at the cinema and hence the trailer for the next instalment of the Hobbit (!!!!!!) I got all excited and it reminded me of this picture!
I can't help it guys- I'm such a ten year old boy most of the time  sometimes!

Happy Monday!

Four Pictures- One Week || 002

Twix- Waiting for his walk. I awwed because he did it completely out of the blue as well! What a cutie

Catching Fire- Where's Finnick? O-dair he is! This was amazing guys you need to see it if you haven't already! Look out for a full on review on my other blog this week!

Misleading Moriarty- I died upon finding this tumblr account (I'm new to it okay- both Sherlock and tumblr!) I loves it! I loves it too much!

What have you been up to this week? Keep your eyes peeled for full thoughts on Catching Fire and of course the Dr Who 50th Anniversary episode!

Autumn Leaves- For Real!

Out walking the dog yesterday, I finally saw some signs of proper autumnal stuff! It's taken this long but It's happened so of course given this blogs name I had to share...
Some trees in "tellytubby land"
The old Railway track

Ditto

And of course I couldn't leave Twix out!
Has Autumn hit were you are yet? Have you skipped it and gone straight for winter?

Not Just a Mundane Monday

I am Excited!!

We got them! And like amazing seats too! *Cries with ecstasy* I would like to give a massively humongous thank you hug to my friend's parents who actually bought the tickets for us whilst we were in Sixth Form this morning!
#loveyoulizandsteve
You are the best.

Something else to look forward to:

Oh yes we have finally decided that Saturday will be the day for Catching fire! Of the Trilogy, this is my favourite book! We aren't booking tickets as it stands right now though due to the cinemas' booking policy being really weird which makes me a little worried because when we went to see Tangled a few years back at half term it was sold out when we got there. all the same we are aiming to get there 45 minutes before the show time so I hope we will be okay!

What's got you excited for this week any plans?

Monday Pun-Day || 1

Welcome to the start of a new feature which is not depressingly pessimistic or containing anything deep or philosophical. A series of posts designed to brighten your Monday as opposed to make anything heavy or thought provoking of it- because for me choosing what to have on my sandwich is enough thought provocation for a Monday...

After spending the weekend on DofE skipping dragging my feet through very boggy, wet hills of the Dark Peaks- the sound of music soundtrack did make an appearance or two in our group! I saw this on Pinterest and I pretty much died of laughter (it was late okay?)

I just died
It combines two things I love in a hilarious way- so what's not for me to adore? Hope this has brightened your Monday morning even if it's just a smidge!

Four Pictures- One Week

Hot chocolate- winter is upon us my friends which can only mean one thing; bring on the hot beverages! My choice is hot chocolate of course (options Belgian chocolate indulgence if you're wondering) and in my favourite mug- what else?

McBusted- the two bands of my childhood which me and the Amigas couldn't get tickets for this week. :( what was annoying was the whole "they go on sale Friday but we are selling well over 3/4 of the seats on pre-sale on Thurday!" Ordeal that happened in notts if nowhere else. Not happy. All hope is not lost with tickets for an extra date going on sale tomorrow! Fingers crossed for us!!

Cave paintings- this is how me and my friends spend our Thursday nights these days! Need I say the paper was not all that got face painted. I daren't show the selfies- think black mono-brows and tribal markings with the occasional mustaches and goaty beards. Then you're pretty much there!

DofE- We stayed in dorms for 1 night and spent two days walking/ navigation training. Resulted in a boggy but very funny weekend that had taught me a few things about boys in dorms:

1. They will walk into your (the girls) dorm, fart, then leave
2. They will put their pubes on an unsuspecting roommates pillow when they've left the room.
3. Then if you didn't shut your door properly, they will do the same to your dorm.
Such Class.
Highlight of the weekend: won at sevens- it was a lucky hand but I'll take the victory !
Lowlight- May have slipped in mud and landed on my bottom in front of my whole group. I couldn't help but laugh at myself though! With that said it beats losing a boot in bog and having to get someone else to dig it out for you. Or plunging your leg in bog up to your knee. Or splattering your face with mud off of your socks. Marginally- but it beats them(maybe!)

How's your week been?

John Lewis Christmas Advert 2013

The Bear Who Had Never Seen Christmas

Last week I tweeted that Christmas starts when the Christmas Coca Cola advert comes on but I realise now that I ignored a massive festive publicity event- the John Lewis Christmas advert!
And of course whatever awesome soundtrack goes with it! I love the cover of this Kean song I think it goes perfectly. Then again who was going to doubt how adorably amazing this advert would be? They're always the perfect ideal of Christmas?

I think its officially time that school finished for the holidays and the Tree gets put up any day now- your argument is completely invalid.

What sets the mood for Christmas for you?

Monday Musings || School, Exams and other Joys

The whole point of me blogging was to have a space separate from the rest of my life; where I could go and write about whatever, whenever I wanted. Unfortunately recent (incredibly dull and majoritivly school related) events have meant that dispite this last week having been half term, I haven't done a proper post all week.

The worst thing is I am brimming with ideas for both blogs but I can't justify choosing those over school- especially in the case of an urgent resit from last year. This means that things have been put on hold for a week or two in order to make the time to really sit down and study for this exam. I think I mentioned in my first ever post that I didn't want to start blogging until I had finished my GCSE exams because to me school will always take top priority. It has to at the end of the day.

Don't miss me too much, I'll be back before you even notice I'm sure x

P.s. The new layout was something I stumbled across on a whim but I think I love it! What do you think?

P.p.s. Sorry about the abundance of depressing posts recently! I'll be more optimistic after this I promise!

Pinned| Autumn Outfits

Casual Autumn Outfits 2013

There was a time where my wardrobe reflected a very clean cut distinct style that was more "smart weekend" and I still have those days of course but that was a time when I spent 5 days a week in school uniform where as now I have the freedom to dress weather appropriately! Hello layers in cold weather and goodby sweaty summer feet- TMI?

When I go shopping now I tend to buy more staples or timeless pieces. These outfits reflect just that for me! I'm not a fashionable person and I dress for myself- I'm not a floral dresses girl most the time and I'm way happier in darker colours. Don't get me wrong I have friends who live in floral dresses and skirts but they suit them beautifully- me less so but we all have different bodies and tastes and that's a good thing! In school comfort is my top priority so at least 4 out of 5 days,  you can bet I'll be in skinny jeans and a jumper given the season. Then with a pair of little boots and a jacket I'm good to go!

Pinterest is my source for everything right now especially style inspiration. The pictures in the collage are a few of my favourite pins from the past few weeks.

Monday Musings| Enjoy Today

Enjoy Today

Happy Monday!

A fresh page in the diary is more than neccissery after last weekend- chaotic would be an understatement!
This from pinterest was my wallpaper for a while it's now a picture of my friend mummified in loo role but that's for another day.
The important thing is that I've been reminding myself in the more stressful situations is that they do blow over- eventually and we have to embrace the good  things  each day brings around. No matter how small...

Enjoy today because after all when's the next 14th of October 2013 going to come around?

October Wish List

It's been a while since I have compiled a list of things I'm lusting after but just recently there have been a few things that I've been on the hunt for or in the case of some of the shoes below wishing for so here are a few things!

Converse: I know we've had this conversation before you don't need to tell me! The thing is I just can't bring myself to decide being the tempermental person that I am! A friend of mine has the new "leather" converse in white so I went into Schuh and asked about the black pair and bam. They don't arrive in the UK until December. 3 months away. They have the ones that are exactly the same in white but not the black ones. No because clearly that would silly of me to think that they would bring them out at the same time. *sighs*
Floral Dr Martains: These are defiantly a Wish list item! These are £90 in Schuh so I can't see myself taking the plunge but a matte brown pair might just be too tempting I don't know...
Brown Sherling Boots: I love the whole Fur topped trench boot look and I had an absolutely amazing pair for the last 2 years that I wore to death. Literally they got a hole in the bottom and I had to throw them out :'(. I've been looking for another pair this year but the closest I've found is these from newlook but they have a huge heal and I'm 5ft 8 as it is! I can't go to school being a giant! So the hunt continues!
Brown Ladies Loafers: I need these. They are gorgeous and feminine yet comfy and everything that's good in life. These are from New Look but they're everywhere right now want I like about these is that they're a waterproof leather-equ material   as a posed to a suade which is good for days like today where the heavens open and drown everybody/ just me.

Biker Jacket: I might have ordered this at lunch time, its just what I've been looking for I have wanted a leather jacket for a while now so ill let you know if this beauty from Matalan fits when it arrives!

Marroon Scarf: I have a scarf addiction and I'm in love with the colour Marroon so its only a matter of time isn't it really?

The Great Gatsby Soundtrack: I need this I've heard all the songs on it at some point and I adore them all so this is going on my autumn playlist. If I was to pick favourites my top 5 are: Sia- Kill and Run, Florence and the Machine- Over the Love, The XX- Together, Lana del Ray- Young and Beautiful, Gotye- Your Hearts a Mess. But I love them all!

Vampire Weekend- Modern Vampires of the City: There are better things to name an album granted but I've really gotten into these guys recently! They're good.

The Hunger Games- Catching Fire Soundtrack: *designated 10 second freaking out session commences* HAVE YOU SEEN THE TRACK LIST? IT'S AMAZING LIKE LOADS OF ARTISTS I LOVE ARE ON THERE!  *designated 10 second freaking out session over* Coldplay's Atlas has a Lyric video up now (YouTube it its very pretty!) there's also a Sia track and Imagine Dragons and Of Monsters and Men and Ellie Goulding to name my favourite people! Unlike The Hunger Games there is no Taylor Swift though, my sister will be upset! If only October was closer! :(

What's on your wish list right now?

Love Kim x

September Things

Scarves- For me perfect for this time of year when its too warm for a coat but September so still Autumn!

Twix's new Collar- my parents brought this for him at the Nottingham greyhound Gathering and he looks so cute in it! He also seems to be acting all the more like a spoiled brat too, perhaps he thinks he's some kind of Raja now?

The Great Gatsby- My love has been rekindled! I'm studying this at A-Level right now and it has reminded me how much of a good book it was the first time round!

My Bed- because nothing beats my winter duvet after a long day of school or work- or both if its a Friday!

Favourite Moment- Completing the Yorkshire 3 peaks! Although after, all I could really think about was my achy feet and a desperate need for a shower!

Favourite Quote-

As much as I'm loving sixth form and everything that comes with it, it only reinforces the idea that I need to work out what I want to do with my life. I'm still hopeful that I will wake up one day knowing!

Happy Birthday Twix

On the 10th of September 2011 we met a very nervous little Lurcher advertised online as Twix at a rescue centre in Leicester. He was shaky and nervous when we first walked him and there was a pony nearby that kept on passing wind (both loud and stinky ones too.) It was sunny and we all fell in love with him instantly.
Two years ago today a skinny, nervous and bald in places little lurcher from Leicester found a new home.

Twix has had his ups and downs over the 2 years and we've learned so much about him. He loves nothing more than a long run, a belly rub and his little squeaky orange toy (called squeaky.) Although he's not nervous as much he hates being in enclosed places and he particularly hates youths on bikes. He's basically a grumpy old man these days but once you let him off his lead you wouldn't believe he's nearly four! Nobody's told him?

Our first year with him wasn't easy. We discovered that he doesn't like enclosed spaces at the expense of a door, a floor and a dog crate. He had a massive section of one ear bit off after her was attacked by another dog and he became ill as a result of being misdiagnosed by two vets and nearly lost a paw as a result. I'll save these pictures for another day. We thought we were going to lose him and it's hard to believe that that was only a year ago that all that happened, its hard for anyone to believe that he's the same dog!

This year has been so much better! Twix has been on his first family holiday, played on his first beach, over come a fear of kites, Played in snow, became a Smurf for the day Won a ribbon in a rescue dog competition, went to a greyhound gathering (I'm so gutted I was on DofE this weekend!) grew lots of fur, then got too much and lost lots of fur and so much more!

He is a member of the family and we love him so much!

Even if we do embarrass him every so often!

Sundays

I spent last Saturday walking/ climbing the three peaks walk in Yorkshire for my Gold Duke of Edinburgh award and although the aim was to finish in 12 hours I finished in 12 hours 15 minutes which I won't complain about. Unfortunately for me, my thighs, feet and booty hurt considerably badly for 2 days after!
It was by far one of the most rewarding things I've done though despite their being no view because of fog and hence no photo opportunity. I have a picture of me at the first and then the final peak but I look horrendous so we shan't be uploading those in here! We wouldn't want anyone to have to suffer that image!

Need I say that due to tiredness and not getting back until lunch time not much got done last Sunday. Today although more productive has been spent doing homework but these things have to be done and I literally get so stressed when my homework for the week isn't done before the start of the next. This happened last week and I just got so annoyed! And then of course the Great Brittish Bake Off re-run and Downton Abbey because on Sunday evenings my inner granny comes out!

I found this quote and its so true. Some of the things we do arn't fun but I guess it's important to remember that it's better to get it out the way than to drag it all out!

Dreams

This is my favourite quote from the entire mortal instruments series. I've reviewed the lot on my book blog and as much as I love the funny nerdy Simon quotes, this is the one I won't forget. Also how pretty is this picture? It's from pinterest and I love it.

Where are you?

Hello!

Been a while since I've used that intro but its been a while and this is just a quick one to say where I've been recently and a quick note to say that I'm sorry if the formatting for this post (and potentially the next few!) are a bit different/ odd my laptop has been having problems so is being figured out at the moment (I hope!) so apologies for that!

Thing 1 thats has been happening is lack of inspiration for posts. I have been going for it on my second blog (linked at the end!) but I just ran out of creative juice for a while then started questioning what it was that I wanted to post but no from now on I will post on here what I want because after all the whole point of me making a second blog was to have this blog as a more informal Internet space and Awesome Reads as something a bit more put together.

Thing number two is the whole starting sixth form shin dig. Now this isn't why I stopped blogging on here at all its purely been the stress entailed from things like DofE Gold for which I have an expedition weekend starting this Friday! It's the 3 peaks in Yorkshire and I've been told by people who did it last year that its is freezing (not unnerving at all). Luckily because its just a selection walk we are only cooking our breakfasts- its chip shop and pub grub for the two nights we're camping! And I've picked up some hot chocolate sachet and a packet of Oreos (DofE essentials kids) so we'll be fine I'm sure!

I'm not making excuses for my self here I mean I've wrote stuff but I always think if there's nothing decent and interesting to say, don't say anything so here's to bringing it all back!

Love Kim x

New months resolutions

August was a lovely month and I think I've came out of it with a more active lifestyle and positive attitude.
September is a massive month with starting sixth form and I'm scared. That's a lot of change and a few big commitments to consider over the next few weeks and I don't think anyone wouldn't find that nerve wracking. So any who these are my new months resolutions:

1. Read 4 books
I want all the city of bones books finished before I start back on the 11th which I know is ambitious but it shall be done.

2. Stay Fit
I have had a lot of time with it being the holidays to choose when I go to the gym but now that'll be more limited but I want to keep up going 2-3 times a week!

3. Don't stress
I stress easily and with a lot of decisions to make I need to remember to take a step back sometimes and look at things in perspective.

So here's to a happy new month!

What not to forget for your holidays...

I have came back from a holiday in Devon which explains my absence last week! The miraculous thing about this Holliday is that we actually didn't forget anything major (we left the grape in the fridge, they were gravely missed...)! This made me think of all the things we have forgotten preciously and stuff that is easy to forget to pack. So I compiled them into a list...

1. PJ's

This is the motif on the PJs that I brought from Primark just before we went because they are so cute! I mean what's not to love about animals in clothes? I was shocked that they fit considering how stupidly weird my legs are but they do and I love them. Unfortunately one year my PJs were left at home for a week but luckily because we were in the UK and I was little at the time, a few pairs we picked up for me!

2. Reading material with attractive actor on the cover

The attractive actor is ESSENTIAL okay? When we went away last year and the year before I didn't bring enough books of my own so my mum gave me one she had read called Need about pixies but on the up side I did like it! But bring enough books so you don't have to resort to not so good books for example the year before last I resorted to my sisters biography of Cheryl Cole. It was dull and boring put nicely shall we say!

3. Orthodontic appliances- DO NOT FORGET THIS!! I very almost forgot these this year but stuck them in my bag quickly before we left. They are easy to leave especially when you wear yours at night, they arn't the first things to cross your mind!

4. Socks

My mum forgot her socks one time and had to borrow mine (luckily we are the same shoe size!) these chick socks are again from Primark and I thought they were adorable! I didn't want to put pants (even though I just did) but don't forget these either.

5. Nobody's judging you.

When on holiday I'm a different person a lot of the time. I'm more adventurous, I wear less (if any) makeup and I relax more and worry less because of it. I tried loads of new things in the week I was away including body boarding, golf (I can't see myself winning the US open anytime soon!) and spent quality time with my family, Twix had a blast too! He particularly liked to dig in the sand which was hilarious!

Hope you have enjoyed the holidays if you go back to school/ work/ collage/ Uni next week (I feel sorry for you guess who gets an extra week off!?) Here's to a new year and a fresh start!

This is my beach peasants!
As I said here are some of our holiday snaps from Devon! The weather was beautiful the whole week we were there meaning that we went to the beach every day without fail! The whole Woolacombe area is incredibly dog friendly too even my mum said she has never been anywhere so accommodating for dogs! We could take Twix most places but he doesn't mind being left for a while if we went to eat somewhere where dogs weren't allowed so we did a fair balance of things. Wherever you went though, you would see dogs everywhere including in the neighbouring Illfracombe area where signs saying "friendly dogs welcome" were everywhere!
I had no reason to be sceptical about holidaying in the UK in Devon with the nice weather and taking Twix wasn't a tie at all for us. So a lovely holiday all in all!

I can't believe that next week marks the end of the summer holidays! My brother starts Year 7 on Wednesday and my sister goes into Year 10 on Thursday afternoon (don't ask!). I luckily only have registration for sixth form on Friday then I start year 12 on Wednesday the 11th! So who's up for some school related posts next week?

Now I'm not the artistic type but I've seen pictures of Chalk Art and Pavement art floating around instagram and the internet as a whole for a while. I love how they create such incredible illusions and the water ones are my favourite, especially the ones above by Julian Beever. Me and the sibs decided to make the most of the bank holiday weather and create some of our own...

Yeah no need to question why I didn't take art further than the compulsory grade! What have you been up to this bank holiday weekend?

Mid-August Resolutions update

So it is just about halfway through August today umm so where is the summer going? (I can't deal with the idea that I start sixth form in 4 weeks.)

Any who I wanted to update on how I have been doing with the stuff I wanted to do/ be /change this month and like I said, I will check in at the end of the month and say how I have actually held up! (If this makes no sense to you have a quick look at this post here.)

1. Be more positive.
Um... Well I'm trying to make a conscious effort but I don't know, it's harder than I thought! It's so weird because people make out that its so easy to just click your fingers and change your outlook on life but its not! It's a slow process (for me anyway!) that I'm trying to adapt to but with late nights and other stuff it seems to be a little difficult at times but I guess that's the thing with habits!

2. Get more Active.
Yes! I have been doing a lot more exercise this month! I've been trying to do at least 3-4 hours at the gym per week and I never thought I'd say it but I feel so much better for it whenever I do I mean today for example I have been busy with the family so I haven't been since Tuesday and I feel kind of meh as a result. It does make me feel a lot healthier and happier too probably because of the positive endorphins you get from exercise so it's a win-win situation! I mentioned before I haven't been going to lose weight but I do feel a lot more toned in my legs which is a perk! I don't really weigh myself so I don't know anyway but yeah I feel so much better for it.

3. Get into a regular sleeping paturn.
I don't think I've been doing too badly on this count either! I have a pretty sturdy routine now which I've managed to muster up and I feel less tirerd (unless I've been working/ online shopping/ simming!) but yeah most of the time I have more energy now which is probably down to both this and the exercise but all the same it's all good!

So there was a quick update on how I've been holding up for the past 16 days! I hope you have had an awesome August so far!

Tea Rooms, Tierdness

This Pun made me smile!

Yesterday I went to a new(ish) vintage tea room with one of my best friends for a catch up and to talk about the important things in life- Holidays, the new Dr Who and why I should watch Sherlock! This opened a few months back but then refurbished and has just reopened again and it's so cute! I highly recommend their hot chocolate its delicious! I really want to go again. Apparently they do cake decorating and crumble making and that kind of thing and which sounds really fun!

Today on the other hand I have been incredibly unproductive. I'd like to say that I've been packing all day but in actual fact I finished that at 10 am. I have basically been doing odd jobs like folding towels and dog walking for the rest of the day and sitting on my backside. Me Lazy? Honestly I have been so tiered today which I think has jus caught up with me after 3 late nights in a row! I  was at work until 10 the other day then last night I had to help my Mum order something at 11:55! Early night for me tonight!

What did you get up to this week?
